View Full Version : [xubuntu] Alternate CD without a CD-ROM drive

It seems that the alternate CD lacks support for installing from USB. It simply says no common CD-Rom drive is found, causes an error, and drops you into the menu with no way to go forward.
Considering alot of netbooks don't have CD-ROM drives, this seems like something that should be changed.

I think you can make an alternate boot USB using UNetbootin or Universal Installer or LinuxLive USB Creator, etc.

I was using unetbootin and it wouldn't work.

Having exactly the same problem, created USB using Universal Installer.
Have tried going to command prompt at language select screen and mounting my usb stick as /cdrom. Could then cd to /cdrom and see all files fine.
Continued with install, as soon as it's finished it's keyboard selection, cdrom not found.
