Hi, for several reasons I didn't upgrade my jaunty to karmic -bad decision- so I needed to upgrade manually my ALSA to latest ver -1.0.23- but after reboot I got several errors, for example: NO SOUND CARDS FOUND, alsa_ctrl unable to load..., etc. but after the system tried to found the DHCP network nothing else happens, so the system is freezed, I tried to Ctrl+C, login into another tty* but nothing, only I can reboot via the keyboard and I can see a message "busy mounting /". So my questions are:

1. is there a way to recover my system?
2. is there a way to tell the kernel to not load ALSA on startup? something like a "safe mode" boot?
3. what else can I do to recover my system?

thanks
