Hello,
I installed Ubuntu for the first time today inside Virtual Box. I want to do some Ruby on Rails development so I need to get Ruby and MySQL installed.
I have seen loads of posts on different sites telling me that to install MySQL all I need to do is open a terminal and type the following:
sudo apt-get install mysql-server
but when I do this I get a message telling me something like 'E: couldn't find package'. The same happens when I try to install Ruby.
Where are these packages? Are they supposed to come as part of the Ubuntu install? If so how do i access them? Or do I need to download them first? I'm confused.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
Thanks.
