helou,
have you ever met with such a situation? laptop has 512 MB ram, bios stat 512MB, ubuntu stats 433MB. I have gpu with not dedicated 64mb video memory - aspire 2012wmli. When i boot inside recovery mode, then startx i have 497MB.
Why? i would like to know, and how to change it to have more ram to my needs.
Thanks for your ideas, as i cant find it on the web...

ps i use lucid lynx

Think "ramdisk" - there is at least one defined in a standard system.
