Hi,
Hey Can anyone tell me how u upgraded ubuntu 9.04 to ubuntu 10.04, is it using live cd? if yes can you please tell how to do it in detail.

As me too have windows xp as well as ubuntu 9.04 on my dual boot syytem ( 2GB RAM, 320 hardisk, lenovo laptop). I want to switch to 10.04 and I found doing a clean install is better idea rather than upgrading to karmic and then to lucid based on peoples collective view.

As being a newbie I dont know whether to uninstall the ubuntu 9.04 and then reinstall or just put live cd and install as the normal ubuntu installation i did for first time ?

There is lot i see about grub issue do I need to worry about that ?

Please help me regarding clean installation of ubuntu 10.04 in detail.

Thanks in advance.

Ok first question that I have is,

1) Do you want to keep the Windows Installation?

2) Do you have a Live CD of the Latest Ubuntu Version available?

3) Do you want to have just an Ubuntu system or a Dual Boot.

If you want to erase everything on your hard-drive and install Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid follow these steps:

1. Boot from the Live CD and select Install on Hard-drive
2. Select country & keyboard from screens that appear next
3. When partition screen appears select Use Entire Hard-Drive (easiest)
4. On next screen type user name, password and computer name
5. Install (grub will sort itself out from here)

Reboot and you'll have a fresh Ubuntu install...

If you are using a graphics card like nvidia or ati then you will be prompter to install a Proprietary driver in the top right of the screen, other than that you might like to check out these sites for additional software/repositories:
