Connection Established Message

This is a very minor annoyance with 10.04.

Is there any way to change the timing for how long the "Connection Established" message displays in Ubuntu 10.04? It seems to be hanging around longer than in earlier releases, and if I could shorten the duration to, say 2 seconds, my need to know would be satisfied, then it would get out of my way.

The notifications are hard coded, so they aren't configurable. You can click through them though.

But that's exactly the problem -- I can't click through them. If I mouse over a message, it disappears, but reappears as soon as the pointer moves to another part of the screen. The status message displays for 5 seconds. If I could click on it and make it disappear, I wouldn't be annoyed by this.
