How come after copying over an xorg configuration i generated and optimized on arch linux to my current Ubuntu 10.04 setup, my overall performance has been much better?
and also I dont have the horizontal moving black lines that seem to appear on any other OS including ubuntu without an xorg configuration, and im still able to be on my highest resolution on this monitor, im on a laptop using an xpress200m -ati integrated card btw.. if anyone could provide a logical explanation as to why this is id greatly appreciate it, maybe the dev's could even make it an option to let xorg generate a configuration file so you can open it up and optimize it.

So, your Ubuntu installations performs better than what? You Arch Linux or your non-optimized Ubuntu? One reason could be newer drivers. Or less a resource hungry window manager.

I think xorg.conf is left out on purpose to prevent misconfiguration and problems related to that.
