I have the KDM package installed, but I can't select KDE as my desktop environment upon login. I'm running lucid. Any ideas why?

While you're logged out, click on the name of the account you want to log in on, so that it asks for your password. Then, in the bottom right corner, do you see GNOME in a dropdown menu? If so, you should be able to click it and choose KDE. That's all I know how to do. Hope it works =)

Solved the Reverse Problem; running 10.04 LS with Gnome I selected a boot to KDE. The KDE was not completely installed, and would come up with a 'blink' speed partial desktop, then blank screen. Did not notice the menu along the bottom of the 'Password' Screen.
Clicked on Gnome; it came right up. D/L KDE from Synaptic on that machine and will try again. Thank You.

This would seem to open up several possibilities for diversification.
