I'm trying to do a fresh install of Lucid on my Macbook 5,1, and following the general instructions for Mactel installations: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleIntelInstallation

I'm creating free space for my ubuntu install, and selecting "install to the largest continuous free space."

However, I cannot install grub to /dev/sda3. It's not an option, and I'm not really sure what to do about it. If I create this partition from free space, I need to use more advanced partitioning methods since it's no longer "the largest continuous free space".

Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me some advanced partitioning instructions so that I don't have to use the "install to the largest continuous free space" option?

Thanks in advance for any input.
