I have an Athlon dual core HTPC with a ATI graphics card. I installed Lucid Lynx on it and ran system update. Afterwards, Ubuntu offered me the option to install the restricted drivers for the ATI GPU, which I did, but now the GPU outputs an image that does not fill the screen. I had the same issue when I was using Windows on the machine, but I could use the GPU software to scale the image to fill the screen. I am unsure how to do this in Ubuntu. Is there a way I can fix this so the output fills the screen? Thanks for any help.

Installation of Proprietary driver from ATI seems to solve most of the problems caused in display due to the ATI graphics card.

I tried installing restrcited driver but that took me too long, then i finally decided to give try to proprietary driver, and voila, it solved my problem. My problem was with compiz, it would load any effects for me.

Try downloading proprietary ATI driver from
