I found myself staring vacantly into the Plasma screensaver this evening, and that made me think of this. ...

Is there anything like this for us? It's basically a trippy psychedelic shifting desktop. I thought it would be shweeeeet with XGL.
Drempels makes colorful, swirling, hallucinogenic patterns that resemble a hurricane or tornado. It normally runs in your Windows background or "desktop", replacing your old still-image wallpaper with gently-animating visuals... and meanwhile, you can use your computer just like you normally would. It uses very little CPU overhead - so little that it even runs smoothly on a 233 MHz system!
Cheers.

Cheers.Well, with XGL you can run any screensaver or movie as desktop background :)
Plasma is nice, xmatrixand GLMatrix are pretty cool and I quite like having GLSlideshow as my background, slowly browsing through my collection of 600 wallpapers :)
If you have Dapper and XGL running, take a look at this thread: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=146533

I'll have to try all the others too.. Let's see, I have 225 screensavers, and I can run couple at a time.. I quess it'll take some time to find the coolest combination that doesn't kill my CPU :D
