phone suggestions

I am a college student, and I have a budget of a maximum of $300. I am looking for something slim, plays average to good music, reliable, and at least 1gb memory. I do not want a touchphone. I don't care about the camera or wifi, only size and music quality is a consideration, apart from the price. And yes I should be able to connect to the net through it on ubuntu.
Any ideas?
