I upgraded to 10.04 and when booting to the Gnome desktop option I get a magnified desktop with the Icons being the size of a coffee cup. When I boot into failsafe gnome every thing is fine for the display but It seems to be slower than 9.10 was for Gnome desktop. Is there a difference in operation and performance by choosing the fail safe mode? Would the 64 bit operate any different? If it would be worth my time to upgrade to the 64 bit how is the best way to accomplish this? I had similar problems with 9.04 as well.

thanks

There's no upgrade to 64-bit Ubuntu, you would have to do a new install.

If you want help for your display problem, please tell us what video card your system has.
