View Full Version : Linus' choice

I received word from a trusted individual (who wishes to remain unnamed) that Linus Torvalds has decided to have a blueberry(instead of his regular strawberry) pie for breakfast and he liked it much more.
Now why did Linus choose this particular flavor of pie baffles me as its taste is clearly inferior to the strawberry pie's not to mention its smell is worse too.
So what does blueberry pie have over strawberry pie?
Discuss.

Especially if the crust is made with lard. ;)

Linus wanted a pie that actually "just tasted right" instead of something that needs getting used to like strawberry pies do.

Cake is better than pie.

This is sometimes true. I like cheesecake and ice cream cake.

Of course the real issue at hand is whether or not linus is using proprietary berries and whether he credits RMS for making the flour in the crust by calling it gnu/pie.

Due to the limited retail availability and customer taste support, either online or by phone, of pies in general, the pie market in my country is severely limited to specialist Connoisseurs or hobbyist pie cooks, who have to spend many hours searching the web in order to prepare their pies properly, conveniently and without annoying aftertastes. Therefore, we stick to cake, thank you very much and GO ENGLAND tonight.

Cake is better than pie.

Dude don't spread fudge around hear. You know that cake will never be as good as strawberry pie simple for the fact the cake bakers never release the recipes so you can't change the flavor for your taste.
I have lost all respect for you now. You could have said apple pie. At least those guys get it what standard pie dishes mean but no you had to say cake :-&

I never liked blueberries on their own, and still don't, but the last couple blueberry pies I've tried were surprisingly very tasty.

ROFL! No, you never get BSOD. However if you're using poor quality flour you may get a "kernel panic".

A blueberry pie is the same as a strawberry one, just with a different filling. So why should it matter?

Please educate yourself on the matter of blueberry and strawberry fillings. You will find that they're as different as rpms and debs.

But they're both still pies-the only difference is the filling! And don't say "educate yourself", it doesn't make you look smart, it makes you look snobby.

Guess none here have had the Strawberry pie from Emil Villa's BBQ in the San Francisco Bay area. Once you have had a huge slice with fresh made whipped cream from one of those restaurants, NO desert tastes as good!

Is it wrong to have a low regard of somebody who lacks knowledge in blueberries and strawberries?

I personally like rotating my pies. Cherry, Strawberry, Blueberry, Logan Berry, Key Lime and the list goes on. That is the beautiful thing about pies... I am free to choose.

Blueberry pie always seems to be delicious.. Though none can supplant the almighty Pumpkin pie. Linus seems like a pumpkin guy to me.
