View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu is great ,but the sound theme is scary.

I like ubuntu very much and I don't mean to complain. What I want to say is :sometimes ,ubuntu scares me.why? It's the sound theme. I doesn't generate any sound for a long time that I've got accustomed to the peace. However, it suddenly generate a loud alert sound and it really scares me.

What can I do to improve. I like more sounds indeed.

change the theme sound or just remove the sound from starting up. check google 'disabling login sound in ubuntu'

Is there any good sound themes that your suggest? I don't know any and I wasn't able to find one. I'm fairly new to linux in fact.

You can turn off the annoying startup noise as follows:

Go to System—Preferences—Startup Applications then deselect "GNOME login sound"

You might also want to have a look at System—Preferences—Sound

(I assume you're using GNOME?)
