Within Ubuntu 9.10 I responded to the auto Update Manager request to download and install the latest linux kernel. After restarting I do not get my usual menu list (dualboot) but only the command line with "grub>" waiting for a command.
I tried a new grub setup "setup (hdA,B)" from within the grub prompt. It executes acording to the suggested helps and confirms it, but when I reboot the same thing happens and all I have is "grub>". I assume grub is working but that something that should load before grub is not loading??
This was done in accord with the online help guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DualBoot/Grub#Ubuntu%209.10%20&%20earlier
I have legacy grub installed, not GRUB 2.
Thanks.
