This laptop doesn't have a BIOS that supports booting to any kind of USB device. PLoP seems like it emulates this. I couldn't get it working on my Windows install and now I have 10.04 LTS on this laptop (thanks in part (a lot) to everyone here and Darkod - big ups).

Is there anything I can do? Software I can install?

You might get some help on the forum with this. I use the cd to just boot thumbs on my computers that don't have this option the in bios. It appears that there can be a installation of this on a hard drive, here is the web site to look at while your waiting.

Ah, I forgot to mention. The laptop doesn't have an operating CDROM drive. :\

Thats a bummer, you might look through the web page though, with a cursory look it seems to have a method of installing into a thumb to facilitate booting, but I only use it as I suggested. I think many people are not even aware of it in general. I hope you find a way to actually have it installed it seems the web site might offer a way to do this but I don't have the time or probably the understanding to figure that out. If you figure it out make a tutorial as a lot of people would benefit from this method.
