I have just installed Ubuntu Desktop 10.04 and found that I could not make my scanner (Microtek Scanmaker 4700) work! Try to search in the forum and google but so far there's no solution.
Can you help me to solve the trouble ?

This scanner is not supported by sane.

If you are adventurous, you could try to see if it is a clone of the 4800 or 3840, which are supported by the sm3840 sane backend.

Edit: Upon further research, your sm 4700 scanner uses the Ali m5615 chip, whereas the sm3840 has a SQ Scan 08 chip. So it is unlikely that this technique will work.
