Netbook won't install ubuntu

I'm attempting to install lucid on a netbook however when I insert a usb stick it simply boots up as normal. I have previously installed ubuntu on it via a usb stick twice.

Has anyone any bright ideas?

I don't know how bright they are, but:

1. Did you make sure in BIOS or the Quick Boot menu to boot from the stick?

2. If you did, then are you sure the stick is correctly created and bootable? Can you boot with it on another computer?

What type of netbook have you got? I assume you are selecting "boot from usb" manually in your boot options? I agree with the previous post, it's a good idea to test the stick out on another pc to make sure it is properly bootable.
