Gents:

Just a note on a successful Ubuntu upgrade:
Hardware: asus_M2N/amd_5400/4-G Crucial/nv9400/sata_250

As previously posted , my legacy 8.04.1 install had its graphics hosed into lowres by a recent update. I could not repair and chose WEB UPDATE as a last gasp try before reinstalling WinME !

As per instructions I first fully updated, then hit the upgrade button. DLoading took 1.5 hrs at DSL_384. Most installation and configure tasks were automagic; those few requiring input were too obscure to understand and I **defaulted** from all -- all 'tailored' files were trashed when prompted in favor of plain vanilla.

With the exception of my webcam everything seems to have been automagically transposed in working order from 8.04 to 10.04. As it should be. Still a bit unclear just who is running the graphics, but the 1280x1040 LCD resolution showed up without a prompt! Nice job Ubuntu.
