Homebrew system:

JetWay JATOM-GM1-230-LF Intel Atom 230 Intel 945GC Flex ATX Motherboard/CPU Combo
2 x Samsung 1TB SATA hard drives
external USB DVDRW
GeForce 8400 GS 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI HDCP Ready Video Card
1GB RAM

Whether I try to install Lucid or Mythbuntu 10.4, it gets stuck showing the Ubuntu/Mythbuntu logo with the white blobs alternating with the blobs being purple. I never get to anything like a system - it just goes nowhere

yes, I have hit enter on startup and tried switching everything off - same result.

can no-one help me?

well, never mind. I pulled the Geforce card out and booted with the internal graphics card, install is proceeding fine.

It is bizarre and annoying that "which graphics card you are using" can completely prevent a modern OS from installing.

I wanted to bump this thread as I had the EXACT same issue, when I press Insert to see what is happening, I simply have lots of memory errors. I also had to sadly use the on-board video (could never get the PCI graphics working).

Any thoughts are welcome!

you might want to check your memory and/or graphics card for faults.
