10.10 unable to login kernel 2.6.35

hi i am using Ubuntu maverick and upgraded to kernel version 2.6.35.1 via update manager
i am unable to login after the upgrade
the screen goes blank after selection of kernel and nothing seems happening
however i am able to login using previous kernel version 2.6.34-5
