boot from CD disabled

I purchased a used Windows XP Pro machine and can't install Ubuntu as the system says "boot from CD disabled. How can I restore the booting process?:confused:

how are you trying to boot from the CD? Usually you can do this by going to the boot menu (esc or one of the F# keys during the boot screen), or setting boot order in BIOS.

In addition to answering the above question, it may be helpful if you include the make and model of the computer, and also what is the BIOS called (you can usually see the name of the bios during the boot splash screen). It may be as simple as entering the BIOS menu and enabling boot from CD...
