Windows XP gave up (multiple BSOD's everyday) so I decided to install Ubuntu on it.
Problem is, it is extremely finicky. I have multiple versions of Ubuntu Live CD's, and it loads some but not the others. I am able to get 7.10 to load but I run into Errno 5 everytime I try to install (at least 4 times now).
I was able to install Ubuntu server and then apt-get install ubuntu-desktop, but whenever I rebooted it just dumped me back to the terminal (instead of Gnome).
Any ideas? It seems like my CD drive may be faulty. Is there any way to copy the CD to the hard drive and install it from there?
