I got a nasty virus on my Toshiba Portege. Since I bought the machine at a flea market, I did not get the factory cd with it. It has no cd rom...no floppy...no way to repair it other than get a laptop hard drive adapter...put it in a machine with no hard drive..and install Ubuntu on it.
Everything is fine, but the windows only go about an inch from the edge of the display. The highest resolution I can set it to is 600x800. Are there some drivers I need?

I had a Portege M200 with Ubuntu on it, but to have no Drive is not a Virus :P

Take a look at this Article (http://www.freewebs.com/duckzland/m200.html#installation) , even if its written for Fedora , it has all the informations you need for installing Ubuntu as well.

What i did, back then, was to boot a Minimal Linux from SD, and installed the rest over the Network.

Hope that helps,
Have Fun!
