Ive got a radeon 9200 SE graphics card. I would like to run a second screen on the DVI output but can't get it to connect.

I tried a number of things, it appears the default drivers are not compatible so I have purged the drivers.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, there is no xorg.conf file or xfix in the recovery mode as their used to be in older versions

Has anyone else had this problem

What do I do to fix this.

I have Ubuntu 10.04 with a Radeon 9200 Pro (ATI RV280) with similar problems.
An attempt to use System => Preferences => Monitors => Deselect same image on all monitors does nothing.
An attempt to use dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg from telinit 3 also does nothing
I also have no xorg.conf since I am using the default driver.
Tried xrandr --output DVI-0 --left-of DVI-1
Also does nothing.
Tried setting ~/.config/monitors.xml <clone></conle> tag to no and rebooting. Still nothing,
My only option appears to be loading the
xorg-driver-fglrx

driver, which I really don't want to do. Any recommendations for
resolving this configuration issue?

Thanks,
