I have an old Compaq P4 (Model D51S) with 1G Ram that I could not install 8.1 onto directly, but could install 7.x and then upgraded to 8.1. Was running without problems. But I haven't used it in awhile and forgot the password. So I grabbed the 10.4 CD and started to reinstall.
I get to step 3 of the install (date/US KYBD/<FAIL>) and the video goes out and stays out. I can CNTL-ALT-DEL shutdown.. but that's it. The Boot from CD fails in the same manner.
I'd like to rebuild this old box for my 3yo kid who has already figured out how to use my iTouch.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
