The upgrade to Karmic Koala went pretty smooth except for 2 problems.
Firstly my screen came up in som kind of power saver mode, severely dimmed even on AC power. Updated grub to include GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor splash" and this problem seems corrected.
Secondly my wallpaper, a color png, displays as a grayscale black and white image and nothing I've adjusted so far seems to have any effect. Ideas anyone?
