View Full Version : [ubuntu] Best/Easiest 5.1 Sound Card

I was looking around and had found some previous topics, some of which I asked this question in like: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9418028#post9418028
I apologize for necro'ing the thread. Other boards I've been on prefer to keep things in one topic instead of making new topics and I thought that was an easy way to do it. I especially thought so because I was interested in buying that very card and wondered if he would still recommend it or if he had a different suggestion now.

Anyway, my question is simple but, it seems hard for me to find answers. What is a good reasonable priced ($25-60) sound card that can do 5.1 audio without much setup? I got my on board to work but, it doesn't work correctly. The onboard is either stereo over all speakers or I set it to 5.1 and the sound is snafu and very tiny sounding if I move left/right or front/back. I figure the easiest and best solution is to get a decent sound card, maybe one that supports digital coax out.

Thanks in advance.
