We all understand the level of security for Windows desktop editions but what about their server product. Also how does it stack up to Unix and Linux ? The reason I query is this article that I just read , http://blogs.computerworld.com/16263/windows_widens_lead_over_linux_in_the_server_marke t
I was under a false impression that Linux had superior numbers on the server side. I've never dealt with servers and am curious.

The big thing Windows has going for it is Active Directory.

Linux has ACL, but Active Directory owns that something hard, permission wise at least.

Management using AD is fairly easy, especually since it is built for enterprise envirnment, easy of management and point-and-click stuff. Linux is close to getting a running DC using Samba 4, but it's still in Alpha status as far as I know.

Work places use Windows for user management and deployment. Web servers and file servers are more than likely running Linux.
