i have the same problem, i was messing with my duel screen settings with nivida
saved it after restart it only worked in text mode tryed starting X got your error
any way to fix this?

solved it by running the following command in console.


sudo nvidia-xconfig

Woohoo, this fix worked for me 10.10 after trying to fix my resolution on a Macbook Pro!
