Hello,

I've got the following problem on Ubuntu 10.04: When I try to login to KDE, the screen just freezes after I enter my password. I can move my mouse, try Ctrl+Alt+1 and the like, but the login process somehow freezes. Logging in with Gnome or on the console works fine.

Just before I wasn't able to login anymore, I tried to hibernate the computer (the option which uses some energy; not the one which writes the memory to disk). The shutdown process went fine, but when I tried to restart the computer I saw nothing but a black screen, got no HD-activity or anything else for a few minutes, so I had to use the reset button. I rebooted cleanly several times since then, but still can't login to KDE.

Any idea what I could do? Thank in advance for your help.

The problem basically solved itself - after loggin in with Gnome once, the KDE login worked again.
