Hey guys.

Just want to say that I am still a noob in the world of Linux, so please forgive me if this question in stupid.

I have tried to find a solution to a problem I recently discovered, and I had a similar problem with Ubuntu 9.10 and it is worse with 10.04
For some reason, any videos I play through Movie Player seems to have this purple-blue tint. Which is odd because 9.10 did not have a major issue (except with videos downloaded from YouTube using YouTube Keep, where videos would have this vertical green stripe).
As far as I can see, all video formats are affected, such as .mp4, .wmv, and .flv.

I thought it may be a driver issue (I use a nVidia GeForce 8400GS), but the problem started after I installed the drivers for Extra visual effects. Before that, most of my videos played fine. Should I install the other drivers in the Software Centre?

Can you please help me out?

I'm guessing you only use the upgrade option when moving to the next version of Ubuntu, instead of reformatting and making a fresh install...?

why is there a difference in doing a fresh install?

I have the same problem... Video's that are on my computer are purple and green and blue.

Ok, if your using Totem Movie Player, go to:

Edit>Preferences>Display

Then click reset to defaults button at the bottom right.

Just fixed mine...

I know it sounds like you've figured this out, but in case someone else has the issue at a later time, here's what I did.

I had the same problem, but it was a greenish tint instead of purple. I use VLC when I'm not using XBMC, and in VLC video had a greenish-hue, so I opened up the equalizer at the bottom, clicked on video effects, checked adjust image and moved the hue up to halfway. That fixed the problem for VLC, and I'm pretty sure it's not an across the board problem as XBMC has no problem with video quality. Hopefully that will help someone in the future.
