Today I downloaded a linux kernel update. Now, every time I reboot the system proceeds as normal until it gets to the login manager. All I can see is the purply background. It hangs and takes a minute or two to do nothing (at least, the hard drive light only flashes a couple times on me) before I can finally see the window to click on my name and type my password in.
Whats going on? How can I even debug something like this?
