I was looking at m=the stock armh and noticed it had a crazy premarket jump so I looked at news for the company. I saw this http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ARM-Freescale-IBM-Samsung-bw-1809394575.html?x=0&.v=1 I know year of linux is over hyped, and probably will never come but do you think this move will significantly affect linux's marketshare?

No. Linux-based devices have always been prevalent; it's very different from the desktop.

There are literally billions of Linux installs right across the world, TV's, security systems, time management, dishwashers and MOST of the web I would say double or even treble the number of Windows instances out there.

I see Linux being a feature of the desktop as and when ChromeOS starts hitting shelves. You can be damn sure that Google will market it right then people will start seeing Linux as a viable alternative to Windows.

Well, an ox is a little bit like a gnu. The next Chinese Year of the Ox isn't until 2021. So 2021 will be the year of Linux. ;)

No, what you posted about won't make a bit of difference for desktop Linux.

Sounds like a good step but to me, those darned ARM netbooks need to appear on the market before we can discuss anything meaningful.
