Plasma desktop fails to show up

After the recent upgrade to Lucid, my gnome session is working fine, but my kde session leaves much to be desired.

Basically the plasma desktop is not showing up.

I am seeing plasma-desktop in synaptic unchecked and in the process of installing it.

Why was it removed in the first place and will it show up now?

Will report back after a reboot.

Had a similar problem. I had to do with the old dependencies not being completely removed during the upgrade.

Ok it appears to work now that I installed the plasma-desktop after it was obviously removed during the upgrade. Seems to me we could do with some kind of utility that checks to see if upgrade progressed properly and adivises users in troubleshooting problems.
