After installing the arabic language pack from the Syetem > Administrator > language support
Goto Syetem > Preferences > keyboard
Goto layout tab
click "add"
add the arabic
a new indicator will appear indicating your current input language "Fra" or "Eng" "Ara" (just like in windows)
click on it and enjoy arabic input
