After installing (not upgrading) Ubuntu 10.04 official release, there is a problem with skype latest version. Sometime Skype dies, and it is impossible to restart it (only killall -9, and then launching), if im trying quit all skype windows turning gray and thats all. Messages that are sending to others are not sent, and also opponents can't send messages to me.
It was OK with same skype version in ubuntu 9.10.
Any fixes? Thank you.

This thread has been going on in one shape or from since the release.
Skype is a THIRD PARTY program, so until THEY decide to do something about their kludged program and fix it so it will work for COMMON web cams, there will be issues (the beta release worked for me on an 8.04 LTS .. but not well .. on 10.04 it is dead in the water as it will not even turn the camera or sound ON .. the unit works in other programs such as Cheese.)

Not that I know of, but I may be wrong.
Skype is like a lot of other companies that are out there. Since the Linux user base in total (all builds) is hovering around 2%, they really can NOT be bothered to "do it now" and have to write programs in .deb and .rpm. (hardware manufacturers are NOTORIOUS for this!)
BOINC from UC Berkeley only writes a .deb installer (so it works out of the box in Ubuntu) but IF you use an rpm based build, you have to compile your own. (but their source code is OPEN.)
Just the frustrations of trying to use third party closed source software in Linux. They haven't the balls to open the source so things can get fixed and WORKING quickly. And, FINANCIALLY, it really is not worth their effort to write closed source for so few users (relatively).
