I was trying to figure out how to install google products such as google earth or sketchup, and after doing some research I cam upon this page http://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/index.html

here I found out that Google actually has created a software repository that allows you to download Google software. On this website you will find all that you need to install Google products.

correction from earlier post, it just installs picasa and Linux desktop.

also, ubuntu tweak is pretty cool and can install google earth for you:
