Terminal in Panel

I am looking for a way to display the last line shown in a terminal session in my panel. Mainly so I can easily see If my downloads/installations are complete. I use it waaay to much.:D Any helps would be greatly appreciated! :)

Also, if I could do the same thing with the File operations dialogue, I'd be a very happpy chappy.

There used to be a Gnome Panel Applet that placed a tiny Terminal on the Panel itself, so you could use it to launch programs, for instance.
Unfortunately, it got removed from the main Gnome release around Ubuntu 7.04 or so.
Perhaps you can find an old copy of the applet and install it?

Ya if you search for it around the Ubuntu Forum or on Google, I am sure you will find it somewhere. If not maybe you can get someone to create it for you. It's not exactly hard programming to create a simple applet.
