View Full Version : [ubuntu] Wireless Drivers on Live USB only

Booting into a live desktop from USB, the correct wireless drivers pop-up to be installed even when not connected to the internet. But upon installing Ubuntu the only way to install these drivers is through a wired connection.

Any thoughts as to why this is? I'd love to be able to run any version of Ubuntu out of the box, but experience always brings back the ethernet cable.

Running: HP Mini 110, Broadcom wireless

Thank in advance for any responses.

Broadcom wireless support is notoriously bad, because the chip vendor isn't releasing documentation and isn't providing a GPL driver. You'll have to live with the ethernet-to-install problem unless you switch to better supported hardware, I fear.
