I heard there is a way to use WINE software with usb device

i have some sdhc camera memory cards that are usb connector

I wanted to scan them with windows software first

there has been attempts in the past to make wine work with USB - but these are very specific and probably not to your needs. I personally wouldn't bother.

Can I ask, what programs you wish to run in wine that require USB? Maybe there are Linux alternatives.

Virtualbox is a much better way to run windows programs that require USB.

happy to take your money...

but before I do...

what windows program do you specifically need to run under wine to read something through the COM port. May be there is a better linux equivalent.

You mentioned a usb flash reader - why do you need COM port access?
