So there are some MOV files that my Ubuntu 10.04 doesn't play. Yes I have restricted extras installed but it just doesn't play it.. I got this clip from movietools.info (http://bit.ly/cleCqS) and it says "This animation is a Quicktime-file and includes an alpha channel for transparency information." It plays just fine on Windows but not on Linux. What other codecs or players do i need to install to pay this file? http://bit.ly/cleCqS

Find VLC in the Software Center, and use that to open your MOV files.

If that fails to work then you could try converting it to a file that will play, avidemux works great for situations like that.

VLC says "No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "mjp2". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

Also "Mplayer" is something to try, It plays many codecs by default and mjp2 is one of them. I just found out that it plays mjp2 on a website after I thought "what the heck is mjp2" lol.

Well I downloaded it and something seams off. Firstly one would play but it was all sort of static. Then the other refused just like you described so I threw it into avidemux and its just green. nothing else. So it must be for some Windows program because I read on that website that you can use some program to change the colors.
