My bean count is way low - can someone please instruct me of the proper command(s) to even generate enough information to post something here that will allow others to help diagnose the issue and get a a dual boot working again.

Do this procedure on /dev/sda1:

So, you need to apply the fix to partition #1 on disk /dev/sda.

It should be fine after that.

Few things to note: It seems you have a wubi install inside windows, do you? Or just remains of the wubi boot files. Since you decided to use full ubuntu, why didn't you remove wubi from Programs? Again, unless those are only remains of boot files.
You also have a 9.04 install on /dev/sda2 but I guess you are still using it. And you have 10.04 install on /dev/sda6.
