View Full Version : [ubuntu] Nautilus and Audio Disc.volume

Having liked Ubuntu since I first tried it I now have Lucid Lynx on my PC. Almost everything is working well, but frustratingly there is an icon on the desktop called Audio Disc.volume, which is causing two effects when I load a CD.
1) All of the desktop icons disappear;
2) An increasing number of task boxes (?) appear along the bottom of the screen, which I can stop by ejecting the CD.
These effects do not occur when I insert a DVD.

I've looked at another post on this matter and followed the advice given there, but with no success. I understand it may be something to do with Nautilus, but don't have enough knowledge to progress. I have right-clicked on the icon and under Properties it gives the name as Audio Disc.volume, the Type as unknown type (application/octet-stream), and the location as x-nautilus-desktop:///
I really hope someone can help me with this. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think I may have to relocate this post to Multimedia and Video as the problem started when I downloaded some codecs. How do I move the post please?
