View Full Version : [ubuntu] Slow boot... installation incorrect?

My Ubuntu takes over 5 minutes to boot up. All that I get is a bunch of text on the screen with no Ubuntu logo. It eventually loads up but its not exactly streamlined. Sometimes it takes 2 minutes and other times it takes 5... its a bit inconsistent.

All I did was create 2 exp4 partitions (/home and / ) and left the swap drive because I have PCLinuxOS on my pc as well (on the partition next to it). That has a swap of 2G and as far as I know both operating systems use the same one.

I have managed to get the nice grub screen back. After reinstalling windows xp it remorselessly removed my MBR without asking! Seemingly it was still there. I managed to get back into PCLinuxOS by using Super-grub... I automatically added Ubuntu to the Boot list inside PCLinuxOS and then just reactivated the MBR.

Is the automatic recognition thing on grub reliable or should I add Ubuntu manually?
