Hi, I am having an installation problem with Ubuntu 10.4 AMD64. The Ubuntu banner is displayed for a long time with seemingly nothing happening on the hard drive or CDROM. Finally the banner disappears and the following message appears:

(initramfs)Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

Does anyone know why this happens and have a remedy?

This is not my first time installing Ubuntu, so I'm pretty sure I did everything properly. I ran a MD5 checksum on the CDROM as recommended. When I checked the disk for errors from the GUI, a similar thing happened above, but I got the message

init:initline7:can't open /dev/sdc

This also occurred when I tried the run without install option.

I don't understand this behavior because when I have had a corrupt CDROM the GUI was always able to detect it without hanging. I also tried burning 4 different CDROMs, even at very low burn speeds and still encountered the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
