My experience is almost exactly like yours. I got my first computer a couple years ago. It was a Dell laptop and came with Vista. I loved it for 5 minutes. Then it was crap. I put up with it for 2 years, enduring the exact same SP problem (!!!). Then one day, probably due to all my registry hacks, Vista would no longer boot whatsoever. I also had a little bit of Linux experience, just with messing around with Ubuntu LiveCDs and on my old Pentium 2. I installed Ubuntu and life has been good since.

if you are going to be creating more webcomics, perhaps you should start to consider licensing stuff?

you own the copyright by default on your creative works, meaning others are technically supposed to ask your permission to distribute copies of it.

a friendly CC license, however, could mean that random ubuntu-friendly bloggers would explicitly have your permission to share it with others.
