yeah, but if you're going to be ripping DVDs, I'd put at least one or two more hard drives in there.

The price is not bad. Good price does not always equal good deal, though.

what would you reccomend?

It's decent for the price. If you've got a file server there is no reason to have a gigantic HDD in an HTPC.

I'd get this instead tbh.

Keep your eye on Tiger Direct for cheap systems.

Last December I picked up 3 brand new eMachines with 160HDD, AMD64, 2GB RAM, DVD RW, keyboard, mouse, speakers = $189 ea. No monitor, Vista.

Here's their "Off-Lease" deal of the day:

$99 IBM with no O/S. Comes with a warranty. These are normal built like tanks. Never die.

Tiger Direct (nee Global) has always given me good service.

that $99 one not bad for basic use right? is it the same one that's 75 on ebay?

It's old, but it should run basic stuff. 512MB of RAM will kill it tho.

The PCI-E X16 slot limits your graphics card choices.

That computer you originally linked to screams "Cheap and nasty". Especially that butt-ugly case, that the site describes as "handsome". It contains a power supply that will probably:

a. Make too much noise for you to bear it plugged into your TV
b. Explode within a year, taking the motherboard and CPU with it.

Save up some more and buy or build a better computer.
