Hi there,

I've just upgraded to v10.04 and now I can't boot into ubuntu.

It boots through grub and the ubuntu pre-loader, flashes up the login background / mouse quickly then black screens

At first I thought it was something to do with running dual screens, the graphics card in the pc is fairly old - Radeon x800 - but worked okish in 9.10 with a bit of hacking.

From doing a bit of searching it seems like the problem is to do with the drivers for the card not being compatible with 10.04.

Most people seem to be able to solve this by appending 'nomodeset' or 'radeon.modeset=0' to the line ending with 'quiet splash', however this hasn't worked for me.

Is there another way to disable the driver and boot into some kind of low graphics mode?

EDIT1: Oh and booting into recovery mode just takes me to a screen with a blinking underscore that does nothing and doesn't seem to accept any input.
